Gilad Shalit

Gilad Shalit appeared here in YU a few hours ago. He didn't speak, but he came with his unit commander at the time of his abduction. His commander spoke first about the day of the abduction and about why they came to speak (to end and the process of dealing with the whole series of events). And then they took questions. It was amazing to see the person who, just over a year ago was being held captive for five years and for whom we had been davening for so long. He was surprisingly small. The smallest in his unit by far. There was a standing ovation that lasted for a while when his name was announced. It was pretty amazing. הודו לה׳ כי טוב
